TUESDAY, APRIL 29
“Come see Robot Riley, Finbar Hagerty-Hammond and Randit perform music and talk about space!
Through some odd twist of fate, three young, talented performers (2 great musicians and a rising internet superstar going through an identity crisis) were asked to put together an act for the coveted featured time slot for the open mic night at Berkeley’s Starry Plough pub! They’re getting 30 minutes of stage time all to themselves to completely blow you away with their banjos, guitars, and ukuleles.
The open mic starts at about 8:00, with the featured act going on at 9:00-ish. This is only happening once EVER! Be there!”
Well, this oughtta be fun. The Starry Plough is a pretty cool pub where I performed stand up comedy back before I hated writing and performing stand up comedy. Then recently, I decided to return to the open mic stage in character to play ukulele and sing my songs The Adventures of Robot Riley in Space and Ice Cream Town. I was doing my thing at the Starry Plough last week, and my buddies Fin and Randit were there performing too. At one point all three of us were onstage basically goofing off before Fin and Randit got to their song, and the lady who organizes the open mic found it funny enough to give us a featured spot. So…alright! Sounds good. Tuesday, the 29th. It might be funny, it’s probably going to be very weird. It sounds like it’s going to be this big Robot-centric act, but I’d rather it was something like a little bit of Robot comedy, then Fin and Randit play their great music, then I talk in between songs a bit. Who knows. Also, are any of my good friends with video cameras reading this? Could they bring their camera to the show? No pressure.
