Question

bubblebathosbands asked: how has the internet changed/shaped the way you interact with people?

-I don’t know if I was always so awkward while talking on the phone, or if I just get worse the more I choose to text/chat instead. I believe it’s a skill that you use or lose.

-Before moving to New York, YouTube became a major way to keep in touch with people I missed. Also, the folks who I now live with thought I was cool enough to move in with them based pretty much entirely on my videos. Did I ever tell you that story? It’s a short one.

-I’m assuming this happens to most people when they first start a Facebook account: Step 1: Get really excited about finding people you don’t keep in touch with anymore. Step 2: Do some half-assed catching up. Step 3: Grow annoyed with their constant updating that has nothing to do with anything you find interesting. Step 4: Hide updates from people you don’t keep in touch with anymore.

So, yeah. Before Facebook, there were former classmates. Then we would forget about each other because we didn’t have much in common and that’s how it goes. Thanks to Facebook, I have a tangible list of these people. I don’t do anything with it. It’s as good as if it it weren’t there at all. I still like being friends with actual friends, though.
